Abstract

This research aims to describe gender inequality in short stories Second Womanby Malik Ibnu Zaman This research uses feminist studies. The object of this research discusses gender inequality in female characters. The female character analyzed is named Bongkah, who is told as a woman who became pregnant out of wedlock. The research subject is contained in the short storySecond Womanthe work of Malik Ibnu Zaman published by Nuonline media. The research results show that gender injustice is manifested in several forms: 1) marginalization as a process that results in poverty, (2) subordination as the placement of women in unimportant positions, (3) sterotypes as labeling of a certain group, (4) violence as an attack on a person's physical and mental psychological integrity, and (5) the double burden of domestic work which is considered the work and responsibility of women.
