This research examines how Hindutva ideology affects the rise of Islamophobia in India, particularly regarding the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) of 2019 by the Indian government under Narendra Modi's leadership. The study aims to assess the law's impact on Islamophobia levels and the discrimination experienced by Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Utilizing a qualitative methodology with a SWOT analysis framework, the research gathers secondary data from literature reviews, including books, articles, journals, online news, official websites, and other relevant sources. The study incorporates Snyder's Decision Making Theory and the concept of identity politics to explore the influence of Hindutva ideology promoted by the Indian government. Findings suggest that Hindutva ideology, as implemented by Prime Minister Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), played a significant role in the enactment of the CAA, which grants citizenship only to immigrants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan belonging to specific religions Hinduism, Sikhism, Jainism, Parsi, and Christianity while excluding Muslims. This exclusion has sparked controversy and heightened discrimination against the Muslim community.
