Abstract

Film as part of the mass media cannot be separated from the daily life of today's society. Film stories that are arranged neatly by the director are able to become entertainment media that have a deep impression because they are able to construct reality in society. One of the films that represents social reality that is present on the big screen is the short film ‘Anak Lanang’. This study uses a qualitative method with Semiotic Analysis from Roland Barthes. The focus is on how to represent the meaning of the moral message in the film 'Anak Lanang' using Roland Barthes' Semiotic Theory of representation and moral values. Semiotics Roland Barthes with semiological analysis tools in the form of denotative, connotative and mythical meanings. This research produces a representation of a moral message, namely the importance of a mother figure in educating and raising children. How can mothers who have good qualities be imitated and passed on to their children. Then there is a moral message about the inner bonds of families living in polygamous households with those who are not.
