Abstract

This study discusses the influence of e-commerce on the Indonesian economy, where the case taken is related to Shopee. Shopee is a Singaporean multinational technology company, which first started out as a consumer-to-consumer (C2C) market that shifted to a hybrid C2C and business-to-consumer (B2C) model.  In examining this case, the author uses liberal theory to review the influence that the company has on the country's economic progress, especially in a pandemic situation.  It is known that the changing pattern of people's lives has led to an increase in online sales, where there is also an increase in foreign investors from various countries to cooperate.  Therefore, this research will be based on a case study research method with a qualitative approach.  This is because researching the case requires qualitative observations where the results of the research use new media that are adopted into the channel media features owned by Shopee.
