This study aims to describe the implementation of the chain writing method on short story writing skills based on local wisdom in fifth grade students of MIN 1 Demak and identify factors that influence its implementation. This study is a field research with a qualitative approach conducted at MIN 1 Demak, Wonoketingal Village, Karanganyar District, Demak Regency, Central Java. Primary data were obtained from teachers and fifth grade students of MIN 1 Demak, while secondary data came from school profile archives, documentation, journals, and relevant books related to the chain writing method and short story writing skills based on local wisdom. Data collection techniques used triangulation through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data was tested with a credibility test through extended observation and triangulation of techniques, data sources, and time. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and interactive verification and conclusion drawing until the data reaches saturation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the chain writing method includes the planning, implementation (pre-writing, writing, revision, and editing), and evaluation stages. The implementation is adjusted to the conditions and characteristics of students to be effective in training short story writing skills based on local wisdom. Factors that influence implementation are divided into internal factors (motivation, interest, initial writing skills, creativity, collaboration skills, learning styles, and self-confidence; as well as understanding of the method, facilitator skills, creativity, classroom management, and the appropriateness of the teacher's method) and external factors (number of students, time allocation, infrastructure, and school curriculum).
