Abstract

This study aims to describe the language errors that occur in the diaries of first-semester students of the Indonesian Language Education Study Program. The research method used is descriptive analysis. The data source was obtained from the diaries of first-semester students of Indonesian Language Education, FKIP, Peradaban University. The technique used was to analyze writing errors that did not comply with the rules of standard Indonesian language. The results showed that the most common errors occurred in the selection of diction, punctuation errors, and ineffective sentence structure. In addition, this study found morphological errors such as the use of affixes that did not match the sentence and spelling errors caused by a lack of understanding of the rules of EYD Edition V. This study is expected to provide development of learning skills in writing non-formal texts by paying attention to the rules of the Indonesian language.
