Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika materi volume bangun ruang berdasarkan Newman’s Error Analysis (NEA). Teknik pengambilan data mengunakan tes, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan untuk soal yang cenderung mudah siswa paling banyak melakukan kesalahan tipe penarikan kesimpulan dengan persentase sebesar 62,5%, kesalahan tipe memahami 12,5%, kesalahan tipe membaca 6,25%, kesalahan tipe transformasi 6,25%, dan kesalahan tipe keterampilan proses 0%. Untuk soal yang cenderung lebih rumit, siswa melakukan kesalahan pada tipe transformasi dengan persentase 62,5%, kesalahan tipe memahami 31,25%, kesalahan tipe membaca 6,25%, kesalahan tipe keterampilan proses dan penarikan kesimpulan 0%.
The aim of this research was to describe the type of students' error in geometry volume material by Newman's Error Analysis (NEA). Data collection techniques using tests, interviews, and documentation. The results showed for the questions that most students tend to perform encoding errors type with a percentage of 62.5%, understading errors type of 12.5%, reading error type of 6.25%, transformation error type of 6.25%, and process skills errors type of 0%. For questions that tend to be more complicated, the students made a mistake on transformation errors type with the percentage of 62.5%, understading errors type of 31.25%, reading errors type of 6.25%, process skills and encoding errors type of 0%.
