ALTERNATIF PEMBANGUNAN BERBASIS BUDAYA SEBAGAI STRATEGI PENGUATAN RANTAI NILAI GLOBAL INDUSTRI KELAPA SAWIT INDONESIA

Abstract

Industri kelapa sawit merupakan salah satu penggerak utama perekonomian Indonesia. Pembangunan sektor ini telah memberikan keuntungan ekonomi yang berkaitan dengan peningkatan kualitas sosial para pihak yang terlibat. Akan tetapi, berbagai macam isu masih perlu diselesaikan dengan lebih serius terutama isu lingkungan. Penelitian ini menggunakan kerangka global value chain (GVC) untuk melihat relasi dan interaksi antar aktor dalam industri kelapa sawit di Indonesia. Dalam perspektif ini, pemerataan keuntungan menjadi fokus utama sehingga tidak terpusat pada segilintir elit. Dengan relasi dan interaksi yang sangat kompleks tersebut, perlu adanya model pembangunan baru industri kelapa sawit yang berbasis budaya khususnya pada saat ekspansi perkebunan dengan menghormati hak-hak adat penduduk setempat.

Abstract:

The palm oil business is one of the major economic drivers in Indonesia. The growth of this industry has contributed to positive outcomes attributed to the development of society. However, a variety of problems, particularly those related to the environment, must be addressed with greater urgency. The global value chain (GVC) framework is employed in this paper to examine the relationships and interactions between actors in the Indonesian palm oil industry. In this approach, the primary emphasis is on the equal distribution of numerous benefits to ensure it is not concentrated on a few individuals. With these incredibly complex relationships and interactions, there is a critical opportunity for a new culture-based growth paradigm for the oil palm sector, particularly during plantation expansion while adhering to customary practices of indigenous communities.
