Abstract

In Indonesia mandarin oranges (Citrus reticulata) usually only use the flesh of the fruit which is used to make drinks or eaten directly as a fruit that contains a lot of vitamin C. However, processing these oranges produces unused waste, namely waste from mandarin orange peels. So to utilize waste in a simple way, namely by using aromatherapy candles from skin essential oilsmandarin (Citrus reticulata). The method used in the extraction of essential oils is the steam distillation method. Making aromatherapy candle preparations from the essential oil of mandarin orange peel, namelywith solid paraffin and stearic acid in a ratio (3:1) of 25 grams and 75 grams. Mix the wax material then add 0.1 grams of tartazine dyeand essential oils as much as 3 grams and 5 grams. The results of the evaluation of aromatherapy candle preparations with the parameter of long-lasting candle flame, namely formula 0 burns for longer (2 hours 50 minutes) than other formulas. The results of the testing of the melting point of the wax produced are 55 °C – 57 °C. In the organoleptic test questionnaire in the form of shape, color and smell, the respondents 'liked' and 'very much liked' the formulas I and II. For testing the questionnaire with the candle aroma parameter, formula II has a high value of 'very like' (31.80%) because the aroma of the essential oil is more pungent.
