The Language Styles in Walt Disney Pinocchio Movie (2022)

Abstract

This study aims to find out the types of language style in and what is the dominant type of language style found in Pinocchio movie. The data are taken from Walt Disney movie entitled Pinocchio (2022). The data are collected by using observation and documentation techniques. In analyzing the data, the writers apply descriptive-qualitative method. The data are analyzed by using the theory of language style by Martin Joos (1976), in which there are five language styles namely Frozen, Formal, Consultative, Casual, and Intimate. The result shows that all types of language style are found in Pinocchio movie (2022) which comprises 1 datum of Frozen style, 3 data of Formal style, 6 data of Consultative style, 23 data of Casual style, and 8 data of Intimate style. Thus, the most dominant type found in Pinocchio movie (2022) is Casual style, while the least one is Frozen style.
